“Indre à Vélo - Cyclo Bohême” route,

along the Indre River from the Loire to its spring

Whether you are an experienced cyclist or a simple amateur, set off on the "Indre à Vélo - Cyclo Bohême" route, between the Touraine, Berry and Creuse, with family, friends or alone. This marked trail stretches over 300 kilometers from Bréhémont and extends to the Creuse region passing by Azay-le-Rideau, Chenonceau, Loches and Châteauroux. It crosses the Indre Valley and typical landscapes of the Southern Touraine area: rivers, mills, woods, meadows and hillsides.

Pedal at your own pace along the country roads in the heart of a natural environment where every shade of green is visible. Why not stop off in Cormery for a macaroon made using one of the oldest recipes in France; enjoy a stroll through the beautiful garden-village, Chédigny, with around 1000 rose bushes; Step back in time visiting the Royal City of Loches, its thousand-year-old Keep and Royal Logis; and soak up the the charming village of Beaulieu-lès-Loches with its wonderful mix of heritage and local handcrafts.

“Loire by bike”,

from one river to another

To discover South Touraine’s beautiful locations, break away from ‘The Loire by bike’. From the Château de Chenonceau, cycle along the bucolic roads of the area’s bountiful countryside. It is a perfect route on which to get away from it all, punctuated by stops in towns and villages that are worth a visit, including Chédigny, a garden-village with 1,000 rose bushes; Loches, where royal history meets peaceful contemporary living; and Beaulieu-lès-Loches, whose colossal white bell tower shines over the Indre valley, guiding you like a beacon…

Follow the Greenway

Following the charming meanders of the Claise River, the South Touraine greenway leads the visitor from the train station in La Celle-Saint-Avant to the entrance of the Brenne Regional Natural Park, via the medieval town of Preuilly-sur-Claise. This nature and heritage trail is very accessible with children!

After crossing the town of Descartes, birthplace of the famous philosopher, René descartes, and then Grand-Pressigny for a visit of the Prehistory museum, take a short break to observe the Saint-Marc fountain in Chaumussay, before continuing on to the charming village of Boussay with its thousand-year-old chateau.

Upon arriving in the pretty medieval town Preuilly-sur-Claise, the bell tower with its glazed tiles from the Burgundy region will guide you to the heart of the village. The Saint-Pierre Abbatial Church is a masterpiece of Romanesque art. Narrow streets lined with old houses and protected by the silhouette of the Château du Lion spread out from the abbey. The route continues to the Creuse greenway via Bossay-sur-Claise and Tournon-St-Pierre
